Dr Femke Leathes - Clinical Psychologist

Femke Leathes – Clinical Psychologist

Femke and her team provide psychological support for patients around their surgery. They meet with them before and afterwards to provide a confidential, non-judgemental space to help access and process their thoughts and feelings about their body. They collaborate with patients to help maximise their coping tools so they can get the most out of the new chapter in their lives that is to come.

Femke qualified as a clinical psychologist from Oxford University following an earlier career in business. She is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a fully registered Practitioner Psychologist by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Femke worked for the NHS for 10 years before establishing a private practice. She has a background in body perception-related disorders and has worked in specialist units for these conditions in the South East. Femke uses both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy in her practice. Her aim is to enable and empower clients to change patterns of sensing, feeling, thinking and acting that, despite being understandable, no longer serve their psychological wellbeing.

Femke is an active member of the UK Special Interest Group for Mental Health Professionals Working in Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Practice, affiliated to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
