Cosmetic Surgery for the Body

Cosmetic surgery is usually performed to correct a physical abnormality or to enhance an otherwise normal physical feature and, therefore, improve a person’s appearance.

I offer the following procedures for the body:

As we age, or after losing a lot of weight, it is common to develop an overhang of skin from the upper arms.

Unfortunately no amount of exercise can improve the loose skin and this “bat wing” appearance can only be removed through surgical excision.

A buttock lift is an operation to improve the appearance of the buttocks. The buttocks can drop and sag and this is often a result of weight loss or aging.

A buttock lift can be performed as a sole procedure, although it is normally performed as part of a lower body lift or circumferential abdominoplasty. In these operations, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is performed at the front and the incision is carried around onto the back to lift the buttocks and remove any loose skin in the flanks and love handles. It enables contouring of the buttocks, groin, thighs and abdomen.

Fat transfer (or fat grafting) is a dynamic procedure which has gained immense popularity for augmenting various parts of the body. The technique involves aspirating fat through special small diameter cannulae. The fat is then treated to remove oil and excess water. This leaves concentrated fat cells which are gently re-injected to fill out the desired area. Common areas include transfer of fat to the face, breasts, buttocks and legs.

A labioplasty (or labiaplasty) is a surgical procedure that will reduce and/or reshape the labia minora – the skin that covers the female clitoris and vaginal opening. Occasionally women also request reduction of the labia majora. This can be done at the same time through the labioplasty incision. Women with large labia complain of pain during intercourse, discomfort during everyday activities and often feel considerable embarrassment. Labial reduction can also greatly improve the aesthetic appearance of an abnormally enlarged labia.

No matter how much you diet and exercise, fat in certain places sometimes just won’t budge. Surgeons call this “diet resistant fat”. Liposuction is a surgical procedure for removing these pockets of fat in specific areas. Common areas treated by liposuction include the tummy, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, neck and breasts in males (gynaecomastia).

An abdominoplasty (or tummy tuck) is an operation to remove loose skin and fat on your abdomen and tighten up the muscles. This excess tissue is often a result of pregnancy or weight loss. The aim of the operation is to produce a tighter, flatter tummy, but is not designed as a way of losing weight.
